Carrier Transicold Introduces New Features
Carrier Transicold has announced a series of new equipment and options for its Supra™ range of truck refrigeration units, designed to further enhance the customer experience and increase opportunities for customers to improve environmental sustainability. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold UK, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Fleets will benefit from a new cab command panel, which has been designed to fit the standard DIN format used for audio head units in the automotive sector – making installation simpler. It offers improved ergonomics through larger buttons and features a large white backlit screen enabling the driver to see key information at a glance. The revised cab command panel will be introduced during 2016 as standard for all new Supra mono- and multi-temperature units, and can be retrofitted to existing Supra units in service.
Customers will also have the option to specify Supra units with a new package to reduce emissions. The package comprises three key elements, including a low emission diesel engine to reduce particulate matter by up to 50 per cent versus the standard engine, plus the use of new R-452A refrigerant. R-452A has the same cooling capacity, fuel efficiency, reliability and refrigerant charge as the standard R-404A, but offers a 45 per cent reduction in Global Warming Potential (GWP). Completing the package offering is Carrier’s Silent option kit, which helps to reduce unit noise emissions.
For fleets wanting to minimise noise emissions further, the “Pure” pack can be specified on the ultra-low noise, PIEK-compliant Supra City units, which operate below 60 decibels and are ideal for night-time deliveries in urban areas.
Carrier Transicold also used the occasion of the Solutrans show in France to present a new evaporator range for its Supra and Vector™ ranges. Suitable for multi-temperature applications, the evaporators feature new styling and are available in four widths ranging from 700 millimeters to 2,200 millimeters. A new defrost operation and improved water drain eliminates the risk of water splashing onto the cargo being transported. The new evaporators can be installed quickly and easily, with a fast dismounting system to aid maintenance and repair.
The Supra range forms a key part of the Carrier Transicold product line-up and has offered proven performance and reliability since the first generation Supra units were introduced in 1995.
